Nice to meet you!
I'm a licensed naturopathic doctor (CONO) and birth doula working in the west end of Hamilton, ON, Canada and my goal is to teach and empower my patients so that they can comfortably restore their health naturally. I aim to create a space that is free from judgment, where your concerns are taken seriously, and you are treated like the unique and spectacular individual you are. I offer safe and effective care using natural therapies to treat a variety of acute and chronic health concerns and have special interest in hormones, fertility, stress, and digestion. I also have experience and interest in providing integrative naturopathic support for HIV/AIDS. I'm also a firm believer in healthcare being affordable for all. In an effort to accommodate those in a variety of financial situations, I run a community wellness centre at Inland Island in Hamilton, ON where we offer community acupuncture & naturopathic medicine.
A personal health issue brought me to naturopathic medicine by way of an introduction to a helpful Toronto naturopath in 2009. This experience opened my eyes to naturopathy as a unique whole-system approach to healthcare that focused on addressing the root cause of illness and motivated me to make a career change. I'm a graduate of McGill University (2008) and the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (2014). I'm currently enrolled in the 400-hour “Herbal Medicine for Women” course, taught by renowned herbalist, midwife, and medical doctor, Aviva Romm. During my clinical internship at CCNM, I had the privilege of completing satellite rotations with Anishnawbe Health Toronto and the Sherbourne Health Centre. I also gained additional training working on the Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue focus shift at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic.
I completed doula training for naturopathic doctors in 2012 and am experienced and comfortable with attending both home and hospital births. In 2014, I had the privilege of doing introductory mentor training with Virginia Bobro of Birthing From Within. I am committed to working cooperatively with midwives, obstetricians, nursing staff and non-labouring partners to ensure mothers and families enjoy positive birth experiences, with a minimum of interventions. Birth may be natural but each one feels like truly miraculous event, and it’s not lost on me that it’s a great privilege to be able to experience it again and again in the supportive role of doula.
In my spare time you can find me wild-crafting medicinal herbs in the woods and using them in the creation of medicinal tinctures and salves, as well as biking, hiking, and cooking for friends. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or are interested in booking an appointment.
